Although I mostly look like Mama, other family resemblances can be theorized...

My theory is that, evolutionarily speaking, babies make a point of trying to look like all their relatives at some point in their development so we won't eat them.

Wait, we have a son, too?

This past Memorial Day weekend, we had the pleasure of having a bunch of Pinky's family come spend Saturday with us. What fun! Before I say another word, a HUGE thank-you to Rina for cooking up the most marvelous feast. All kinds of yummy stuff kept coming out, and I can't remember when I've had ribs that good. We barely had to lift a finger! That was awesome, Rina, we owe you one!
But the most curious thing was, apparently we've had a son all this time and didn't realize it! One minute, I was holding Lily (who was having kind of a tough day), and then she spit up on herself. Naturally, this upset her, so her mama took her into a back room to comfort her for a while. Well, much to my surprise, when mom emerged later, there's no sign of Lily, but this little boy suddenly shows up!

You can see the young man being held by Toto Kevin, here. From the looks of things, he appears to be about Lily's age, and actually bears a fairly strong resemblance to her. I guess he must be some sort of twin. I can't believe Pinky didn't mention that to me. Poor little guy! We never even visited him in the NICU. Spent all our time with his sister. Still, he seems to have come through just fine, and is doing every bit as well as his sister is. Don't know where he's been hanging out this whole time, though.

(as you can see, Uncle John is also surprised by the sudden appearance of this small boy)

But, never let it be said that we can't deal with surprises. As you can see, the young fella was swiftly and warmly welcomed into the family. We've decided to name him Lolly. I just hope his sister turns up...

Our first Mothers' Day as a mother (and father)

The latest in a set of firsts, last Sunday was our first Mothers' Day for Pinky to actually be an official honoree! We had considered some sort of big brunch out at a hotel or restaurant, but instead decided it would be a lot nicer to just gather at the Mojicas' in Cerritos. All the Mojica-related mommies were there...Pinky, Nana, Rina, and Tita Chang. Add in all the husbands, sons, and babies, and we had quite a full and festive house! The boys had the responsibility of preparing/procuring all the food, and I daresay we did a respectable job of it. Everyone had nice family time! All in all, we couldn't ask for a better first Mothers' Day.
(All the Mojica mothers and daughters. I love this picture!)

Safety First!

Floppy SPF30 sun hat? Check.

Ready to face the world!

If Dada won't keep up with the blogging, I guess I have to do it...

Dada really isn't keeping up with this whole blog thing. A lot of my life has passed since his last post! So I guess I have to take matters into my own hands (however small those hands may be!).

Let's see, where should I start? Um, remember when Sean and Christina came to visit me? Christina carried me for, like, HOURS! Anyways, turns out Christina has a mama, too! That's lucky for her, mamas are really cool. I don't think she has any grandkids yet, but she's got gramma powers anyways. She carried me and really calmed me down. She sang in Italian to me! How cool is that? She also got us this beautiful statue, which mama especially loves. So, Christina's mama Diane, you can be one of my grammas until Christina gives you one of your own. I always am happy to get more loving!

A couple days later, we went up to MY mama's mama's house for a few days. Yay, Nana! But on top of seeing my Nana and Nono, lots of cool stuff happened to me. For example, Aunty Charlene finally held me! Last time I saw her, she had a cold and didn't want to get me sick, but this time, no problem! Aunty Char is one of mama's bestest friends, so I'm glad we finally got to snuggle.

Much as I'm accustomed to being the center of attention for everything, though, this was really cousin Mallory's weekend. She had her one year old birthday party! Wow! She's like four times as old as me! Tata Rina and Toto Thom threw a really cool party for her, and Tata Rina, Mallory, and Madi all got to wear really cool outfits. I don't think I get to wear an outfit like that when I turn 1, though, because I think they're Korean (Toto Thom is Korean). Since my dada is part German, though, maybe I'll get a dirndl.

Other than that, we've mostly been having fun doing family things. I'm starting to get a bit less fussy, and I'm starting to be more playful. I coo and smile a little bit now, and am starting to play with more of my toys. Mama and dada say I'm really starting to be fun!

Love,

Lily

P.S. By the way: see this pillow? Aunty Leslie made it for me and it's AWESOME. Mama and dada use it all the time, and they'd hardly be able to sit comfortably without it. So thanks, Aunty Leslie!!
